Igor Filimonov, chief editor of the youth newspaper "Prospect", was found outside his house in Tula on the morning of 1 September 1995 with a severe head injury. He was taken in an unconscious state to the hospital where he died.
On 31 August Filimonov left home in a track suit.
The police declined to open a criminal investigation, trying to persuade his relatives that he had suffered an accident.
